Controversy recently emerged over which arthroplasty approach is optimum. Do the benefits of anterior hip replacement outweigh the risks?
Traditional joint replacements work just fine. Are the minimally invasive techniques worth the hype?
Exercise is medicine. We have known it for many years. Yet, how does this knowledge impact medical interventions?
Mako is an innovative solution for many suffering from painful arthritis of the knee or hip.
Scan. It all starts with a CT scan so the surgeon can know more about the patient’s anatomy.
Plan. The CT scan is used to create a 3D CT-based model of the patient’s joint. The surgeon uses this 3D model to create a personalized surgical plan and assists the surgeon in performing the joint replacement procedure.
Mako Can. In the operating room, the surgeon follows the patient’s personalized surgical plan while preparing the bone for the implant. The surgeon guides Mako’s robotic arm within the predefined area, and Mako’s AccuStopTM technology helps the surgeon stay within the planned boundaries that were defined when the personalized pre-operative plan was created.
It’s important to understand that the surgery is performed by an orthopedic surgeon, who guides Mako’s robotic arm during the surgery to position the implant in the knee and hip joints. Mako does not perform surgery, make decisions on its own or move without the surgeon guiding it. Mako also allows your surgeon to make adjustments to your plan during surgery as needed.
Back and neck pain affects more than 80% of adults at some point in their life. With a column of 33 vertebrae, the spine, which extends from the skull to the pelvis, is often the culprit of debilitating pain.
When evaluating therapy options for the spine, your patient may feel some anxiety. Thankfully, many spine conditions do not require surgical interventions. Our orthopedic specialists are committed to providing pain management and treatment interventions tailored to meet your patient’s unique needs. We aim to empower individuals with the tools and resources that promote an active lifestyle.
Knee injuries and hip pain are common reasons people visit an orthopedic surgeon. Before establishing a plan of care, our orthopedic experts will perform a thorough assessment and any necessary diagnostic tests. After diagnosis, our specialists will discuss treatment options.
Committed to safety and long-term mobility, our providers choose non-surgical therapies whenever possible. Yet, we are certified to perform surgical interventions when necessary.
We offer surgical options for several joint repairs or replacements if non-invasive interventions prove ineffective. Our orthopedic surgeons may recommend surgical treatment if the following conditions apply:
Regardless of treatment modality, we deliver thorough education so patients are informed and on board with the recommended treatment plan.
Hobbies, like gardening or sports, enhance our lives. The effects of a hand or wrist injury can be far-reaching, preventing your patients from doing their favorite activities and limiting athletic performances. Since these common injuries can lead to forearm and elbow pain, our orthopedic specialists are ready and available to treat your patient’s hand or wrist injury.
As with all our orthopedic services, we begin with a complete evaluation of the injury and testing that ensures proper diagnosis. Whether or not surgical intervention is necessary, your patients will receive treatments precisely designed to help them get back to what they love.
